Dr. Douglas Allen, a native of New Mexico, is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in sports medicine. He believes that he should work in unison with his patients to ensure the proper approach to any condition. Dr. Allen maintains that education and empowerment is important to the health and well-being of all his patients and their overall rehabilitation efforts.
Prior to joining the team at New Mexico Orthopaedics in 2006, Dr. Allen was a practicing mechanical engineer. He considers orthopedic sports medicine to be the perfect blending of his interests in anatomy, sports and helping others, as well as the ideal hands-on outlet for his skills.
Growing up the son of a small business owner has had profound influence over his personal and professional philosophies as evidenced by his dedication to his patients and his community. Customer service and patient care are synonymous in Dr. Allen’s practice.
Dr. Allen is proud to have served his country for five years in the United States Navy. He is also on the faculty of the New Mexico Orthopaedics Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship.
In his spare time Dr. Allen participates in many outdoor sports, including biking, skiing and hiking. He also shares his time and love of sports by coaching his children in a variety of athletic activities.
