The New Mexico Center for Joint Replacement Surgery is nationally recognized as a Center of Excellence for both surgery and research of total joint replacement. After many years of planning, the Center opened in 1995. It provides state-of-the-art joint replacement surgery for patients in the city of Albuquerque, the state of New Mexico, and referrals from throughout the country. Valuable research concerning new prosthetic designs, new surgical techniques, and critical long-term analysis is generated by the Center. Over 7,000 joint replacement procedures have been performed at the center.

Physicians

The team of doctors who make up the Joint Center include Richard E. White, Jr., M.D., Daniel W. Junick, M.D. and Michael J. Archibeck, M.D., who are all fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons who do an extremely high volume of total hip and total knee replacement surgeries, which enable people to recover from arthritic or damaged joints and return to an active lifestyle. Junick

The most important decision a person can make about total joint replacement, whether hip or knee replacement, is the selection of the surgeon. Generally, the surgeon selected should be someone who does a high volume of hip and knee replacements. They will likely be more proficient and best informed of the latest joint implant technology.
